DRY EYE AND LASIK

CONSIDERING LASIK? OR HAVE YOU RECENTLY HAD IT?
YOUR EYE DOCTOR PROBABLY TALKED TO YOU ABOUT DRY EYE.

Dry Eye is a common complaint among those who undergo LASIK. Dry Eye symptoms can last for six months or longer after LASIK surgery.

But Dry Eye can be a factor even before LASIK. Some patients even seek LASIK because they have Dry Eye. Dry Eye can make wearing contact lenses uncomfortable and those who don’t want to wear eyeglasses on a more regular basis often opt for LASIK.

LASIK patients may report Dry Eye after surgery, even if they did not experience Dry Eye symptoms previously. Certain factors such as gender, lifestyle and ethnicity may increase the chances of having Dry Eye post-LASIK.

But whether you had Dry Eye prior to LASIK or experience it for the first time after, your doctor may have recommended artificial tears such as REFRESH OPTIVE® Lubricant Eye Drops and REFRESH PLUS® Lubricant Eye Drops. Both are preservative-free and recommended for post-LASIK dryness. If using either of these products for post-LASIK dryness, follow your eye doctor's instructions.
